Briefly describe yourself and tell us something a little quirky.
Hmm, about me? Well, I am a thoroughly confused individual who grew up in Byron Bay Australia. I have long hair and, currently sport a beard, and can generally be seen riding around Brisbane on my motorbike. I enjoy a good beer, having a chat, and travelling! What else? Maybe we can leave it at that…
What made you want to join Milaana as a Hero?
I met Hollie and Milaana at a Connects event in mid 2014. I loved the idea of connecting students with worthwhile and interesting projects! But mostly, I suppose it was Hollie’s passion and drive that inspired me to ask questions the first question and start my Milaana journey!
Describe Milaana and your experience in under 10 words.
Exciting, Challanging, New, Trusting, Family, Refreshing, Open, “Net positive impact”
As a Milaana Hero, what skills and abilities are you improving?
As I will be taking part in the community engagement and relationship management, I will be learning valuable skills in how to communicate with organisations, and how to develop a network. Additionally, I will be learning skills in governance, social sustainability and I suppose to some extent people management.
What do you hope to achieve during your internship with Milaana?
I hope to have a new circle of friends, a new family. A network within the social entrepreneurial and community engagement sphere and a positive impact in the community around me.
Why should your friends use Milaana?
Milaana is a fantastic way for everyone to engage with socially minded community activities. It allows students and professionals an opportunity to get involved with organisations in a mutually beneficial way.
Would you recommend Milaana to your friends?
Absolutely!! Why not get involved? There are a wide range of projects on, and a lot of people that could use our help! And what’s better your learning throughout the whole experience.
What is next for you? Where do you see yourself in five years?
God knows… Hopefully somewhere exotic? As long as the sun is shining and people are smiling I don’t mind too much where I end up. Lets just focus on getting to the end of the year.
